Taking our new quilting adventures to the world, we are...
The Sew-Crazy Sisters
This group grew out of our desire to learn a new skill (for some of us--some are talented quilting pros already!) and to make something to be proud of. Church and a book group initially brought the core of us together years ago, and we've picked up several new sisters in spirit along the way.
We love to gather and gab (and eat) as often as possible. Combine that with our individual passions to learn and create, along with the fact that we've talked about starting this group for a looong time now, and we decided that it was time to put our money and our time and our sewing machines where our mouths are. In the words of Spencer W. Kimball, a wise man we all love and adore: "Do it!"
And so we did.
If I were to write a mission statement for us, it might be this: "Together we will learn to quilt, produce beautiful handiwork, and tie our friendships together more than ever. And, as always, we'll have a lot of fun along the way. And probably eat some great food."
Some of you might change it--feel free to post your comments so we can all see what you'd say!
This blog is our way of staying in touch between our quilting gatherings. We'll use it to post the monthly assignments, pictures of what we're working on, inspirational quilting information, and general chatter among friends. We've met four times already: once to plan, once to shop, and twice to quilt. I'll be updating the blog soon to reflect what we've already done.
Finally, let me give a shout out to Jennifer Chiaverini, author extraordinaire of The Elm Creek Quilts books, whose first book, "The Quilter's Apprentice," we devoured years ago at book group. Thanks for the inspiration and the motivation to bond like the women you write about. And thanks for talking to Susan on the plane to Bentonville, Arkansas, in May. You made our day!
If you're one of us, chime in and let everyone know you're here. If you've happened upon our new adventure from outside our circle, welcome, and get ready to join us on our quilting journey!
Nice job Kristen, thank you for doing this, Kathy Bailey
